SPAP and the Port of Gdansk security units at a joint exercise session

On 26 September 2017, the Port security units, the Independent Counter-Terrorism Police Unit (SPAP) and the Polish Baltic Shipping Company personnel took part in a joint training session at the Westerplatte Ferry Terminal. The aim of the training was to check the cooperation procedures between the security services and external units in the case of a crisis situation occurring at the port.

On 21 September 2017, the Port of Gdansk was visited by experts discussing smart solutions in the maritime industry. The conference was organised in cooperation with the Marshal's Office.

Transshipments at the Port of Gdansk larger than expected

Yet another record result in transshipments at the Port of Gdansk. After the first 8 months of 2017, the result has improved by 3.7% compared to the same period of the previous year, and at the same time, is higher than predicted. By August, as many as 25,501,876 tonnes of various types of goods were transshipped at the largest Polish seaport. It is worth mentioning that the upward trend is particularly noticeable in the container transshipment sector.

A record number of passenger ships

This season, the Port of Gdansk Authority broke its record for the number of passenger ships to call at the port. From the beginning of the year to 16 September, 63 cruise ships called at the Port of Gdansk. The last vessel of this type in the 2017 tourist season was the nearly 230-metre long Norwegian Viking Star.

Qatar and Ukraine - new directions of cooperation

On 11-13 September, during the Baltexpo fair, members of the board of the PGA SA had a series of meetings with the representatives of Qatar and Ukraine responsible for the implementation of those countries' transport policies. During the talks, new opportunities for international cooperation in the area of maritime economy were discussed. The PGA signing a memorandum of cooperation with Qatar was the key event during the fair. The Port of Gdansk was a partner of this year's edition of Baltexpo.

Polish ports shoulder to shoulder at the Seatrade Europe fair

The Port of Gdansk, the Port of Gdynia, and Baltic Gateway attended the largest European cruise ship trade fair, Seatrade Europe, which took place on 6-8 September 2017 in Hamburg.

Opportunities for developing cooperation with Indonesia

The Port of Gdansk Authority was visited by a 17-person delegation of the Commission for Infrastructure and Transport of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia. The meeting with members of the Board of the PGA was also attended by Peter Franz Gontha, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Poland.

REZERWA and the Port of Gdansk help towns affected by the storms

Employees of P.U.P. REZERWA, a subsidiary of The Port of Gdansk Authority, will provide help to the municipality affected by the storm which passed over Poland on 11 August. REZERWA will carry out extensive clean-up works and provide necessary equipment to the Brusy municipality in the Pomorskie province.
