A conference in the framework of the LogVAS programme22.05.2007 On 16 May 2007, the Maritime Institute in Gdansk in conjunction with ISL Baltic Consult of Lubeck organized - in the Central Maritime Museum in Gdansk - a conference in the framework of the LogVAS programme. The project focuses on identifying logistic potentials for value added services (VAS) in the Baltic Sea region and on defining the opportunities for their development in seaports. Although the Port of Gdansk is not an official partner to the project, a representative of the Port of Gdansk Authority SA - Head of the Marketing Office, Ryszard Mazur - was invited to take part in the conference in order to discuss issues concerning the current logistics situation at the Gdansk port. The presentation emphasized that the expansion of distribution and logistical operations comes as a result of the scale and the structure of cargo volumes and is affected by the demand for this type of services. The conference also discussed logistics projects currently under development in Lubeck, Kiel, Szczecin-Swinoujscie and Ystad. Part of the conference touched upon the exchange of experience with public-private partnership while developing logistics projects. |
