A crude oil terminal to be built in the Port of Gdansk11.04.2013 Following the preliminary agreement concluded on 27 November 2012, the Port of Gdansk Authority SA and PERN "Przyjazn" SA signed, on 10 April 2013, a contract regarding the lease of port land for the construction of a Crude Oil Terminal. The contract concerning 28 hectares of land on the PGA SA premises was concluded for 30 years and stipulates in detail the relations between the parties involved in terms of the foundation and use of the entire Terminal's infrastructure. It also proves for the possibility of granting the area Duty Free Zone rights in order to add more competitive edge to PERN's flagship investment project. Around 20 storage tanks for crude oil and petroleum products with a total capacity of 700 thou m3, complete with full technical infrastructure, railway tracks and sidings, pipelines and buildings will be built on the land leased for Terminal construction. The Crude Oil Terminal will be equipped with facilities handling a variety of products, such as various types of crude oil, diesel oil, petrol, aviation fuel and chemical products, using top quality standards in terms of fire safety and environmental protection. The contract was signed by: on behalf of PGA SA - one person Management Board - Jerzy Melaniuk and Head of Investment Projects Coordination Department and proxy, Jerzy Lebiedz and on behalf of PERN "Przyjazn" SA Marcin Moskalewicz, President of the Board, and Slawomir Stachowicz, Member of the Board and Head of Oil and Fuel Transportation Unit. Janusz Kasprowicz PGA SA PR Officer PERN "Przyjazn" SA is an oil pipeline operation company in which the State Treasury holds 100 percent of shares. It primarily deals in transportation of crude oil to refineries in Poland and East Germany via the "Przyjazn" pipeline running from Adamowo to Plock and further to Schwedt, as well as the Pomeranian pipeline joining Plock and Gdansk. The reversible Pomeranian pipeline combined with the crude oil terminal in Gdansk allows for the import of raw material from the sea, as well as for the transit of crude oil through Poland. PERN also provides oil storage services in its three bases in Adamowo, Plock and Gdansk, with the total volume of nearly 3 million m3. Additionally, PERN operates a network of product pipelines, used for liquid fuel transportation. PGA SA is a company in which the State Treasury has retained 85.71 percent of shares and has been shortlisted among the companies crucial to public order and safety. The largest Polish sea port in Gdansk, being a versatile port at present, not only is a leader in container turnover in the southern Baltic region, but also has an 85 percent share in the Polish sea throughput of oil and its products. Deepwater, non-freezing terminals of the Outer Port in Gdansk, available for all vessels all the year round, may receive the largest ocean-going vessels, able to go through the Danish Straits. |
