Gdansk has received a German economic mission from the Berlin-Brandenburg region

06.09.2012

At the invitation of the Management Board of Port of Gdansk Authority SA, a 7-person delegacy of entrepreneurs and officials from the region of Berlin-Brandenburg arrived in Gdansk on September 3rd. The primary purpose of the visit was to investigate the possibility of cooperation with the ports of Pomerania region and the emerging logistics base meant to serve the ports' hinterland activity.

The delegation led by Professor Herbert Sonntag, PhD - President of the Board of LogisticsNet Berlin-Brandenburg (LNBB) and Vice Chancellor of the Technical University of Applied Sciences in Wildau, also included: Jutta Cremers from the Ministry of Economy and European Affairs of Brandenburg Federal Government in Potsdam, Markus Kappes and Sybille Rehse from East Brandenburg Investor Centre in Frankfurt (Oder), Werner Mantzel from Elstal Rail Logistics Centre, Andreas Schulz from Dock 100 Logistik GmbH storage centre in Berlin and Norbert Wagener, PhD from Wagener & Herbst Management Consultants Gmbh in Potsdam.

The guests familiarised themselves with the investment opportunities and development plans of the Gdansk port during a presentation conducted by Julian Skelnik - PGA SA Foreign Relations, Marketing and Promotion Office Director, as well as during a cruise of the port. The meeting on the view tower of the Port Polnocny Master's Office was also attended by Karolina Wlodarczyk, President of Gdansk Container Terminal, and Malgorzata Zalewska from the Gdansk Pomerania Development Agency, et. al.

The second day of the German delegacy visit was devoted to a conference held in the halls of the Baltic Philharmonic and attended by circa 40 entrepreneurs representing such branches as transportation, forwarding and logistics from the region of Pomerania. The German party presented their own companies and learned about development plans of Gdynia's PCC Intermodal. Cooperation opportunities were discussed primarily in the context of the need of railway transportation, cargo distribution, container transport and logistics clusters management policies.

The visit's importance was stressed by the patronage taken by Mieczyslaw Struk - Marshall of the Region of Pomerania.
