A new ferry
terminal21.03.2002 In the wake of the contract concluded with the Danish ship owner DFDS that provides for the opening of a new ferry service from the Port of Gdansk to Copenhagen, the Port of Gdansk Authority SA has embarked on the intensive construction works aimed at the development of a berth of a ferry terminal. At the Obroncow Westerplatte Quay the advanced adaptation works are in progress to adjust a former office building in the way that it can serve the purpose of a passenger terminal. Phase I of the adaptation works envisages that the ground level of the building will be suitably adjusted to temporarily facilitate the custom and passport clearance of passengers. At the same time a passenger cars and lorries clearance stand will be commissioned. At the later stage - by the end of October this year, the upper level of the passenger terminal will have been developed to permanently accommodate the custom and passport clearance, whereas the ground level will house ticket and booking offices, tourists information centres, hotel reservation and information, taxi stands, cash dispensers, and so forth. Upon the custom and passport clearance the passengers will be able to board the ferry through a modern gallery gangway that provides the direct connection between the passenger terminal and the entrance gate to the ferry.
