A New PBS Ferry on the
Gdansk-Nynäshamn route15.07.2003 As soon as on 16 July a new ferry purchased by Polish Baltic Shipping will start its first voyage from Gdansk to Nynashämn. The new ferry, "Scandinavia", is able to take aboard up to 1,800 passengers and 515 passenger cars or 175 passenger cars and 36 lorries. The ferry is 146.1 m long and 25.5 m wide. On board the ferry passengers will find many attractive facilities: restaurants, coffee rooms, cafes, theatre/cinema, sauna, children's play area and duty-free shops.
"Scandinavia" was purchased from a Swedish owner, for whom it serviced the route connecting the island of Gotland with Sweden. The ferry will replace the "Silesia" ferry, which is now going to service the Swinoujscie-Ystad route.
On its first trip from Gdansk to Nynashämn "Scandinavia" will take aboard approximately 1,300 passengers and 250 passenger cars. It will service the route in keeping with the current timetable - in summer PBS offers ferry connections with Nynashämn every other day.
