A new Ro/Ro shipping service for vehicles transport at the Port of Gdansk04.04.2007 With the call of m/v "American Highway" vessel on 4 April 2007, the Japanese shipowner "K" Line inaugurated a regular Ro/Ro service from Japanese ports to Gdansk. The ship carried 1,010 Toyota cars that had been loaded at the port of Nagoya. The vehicles were reloaded in Gdansk and will be forwarded to Russia. It is expected that more shipments destined to that market will follow. Consequently, the Port of Gdansk is growing to become one of the major transit ports for the eastern markets. The new shipping service provides the Gdansk port with a minimum one call on a monthly basis. The line is operated by two state-of-the-art identical car-carriers with the parameters: gross tonnage (GT) 49,212, net tonnage (NT) 14,764, total length 179.15 metres. Handling and storage services are rendered by the Port of Gdansk Cargo Logistics Ltd.
