A sizable load of cars at the Gdansk port27.08.2009 On 26 August 2009, the Port of Gdansk saw the arrival of the car-carrier "Atlantic Spirit". The ship came from South Korea as part of the liner service operated by Höegh Autoliners. "Atlantic Spirit" sails under the flag of Liberia and was built in 1987 in Japan by the Sumitomo Heavy Industries Oppama Shipyard. The 190-meter-long ship has a loading capacity of up to 4,200 vehicles, with a gross tonnage of 47,287 GT. The car-carrier can develop a maximum velocity of 19.5 knots. "Atlantic Spirit" brought to Gdansk 1,541 Nissan cars. This is the biggest one-time load of cars thus far this year. The discharge operation took 12 hours and was performed by the Port of Gdansk Cargo Logistics Ltd. Almost the entire load of cars is destined for the Russian market. |
