A visit by a delegation of central government civil servants from the Netherlands

07.09.2009

On 6 September 2009, the Port of Gdansk Authority SA played host to a delegation of 35 central government civil servants from the Netherlands, mainly representing the Dutch Ministry of Traffic, Public Works and Water. The visit was organized by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is part of a two-year training programme for young Dutch civil servants.

The visitors listened to the introduction of the Port of Gdansk delivered by Head of the PGA SA Marketing and Promotion Office, Piotr Drozdowski. The presented information gave much insight into the port's structure, its throughput capacity and projected developments.

The delegates were greatly impressed by the panoramic view of the port facilities afforded from the top of the tower at the Harbour Master's Office in the Northern Port. They also visited the Westerplatte Ferry Terminal and the site at the Defenders of the Polish Coast Memorial that recently was the scene of the 70th World War II Outbreak Anniversary Celebrations.

The next stage in the itinerary of the Dutch civil servants around Poland will be Warsaw and a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure. The next European port that the Dutch delegates are planning to visit is Stockholm.
