A visit of delegates from the Port of Shanghai

14.07.2008

On 11 July this year, the Port of Gdansk Authority SA was hosting delegates representing the central administration of the Port of Shanghai, headed by its managing director Xiao Feng. It is our hope that the recently intensified marketing measures embarked on by the Gdansk port will soon bring the expected economic effects.

Over the last few months alone, PGA SA has taken part in the industry's major fair and exhibition events such as "Asia Pacific Maritime" in Singapore and "Transport Logistic China" in Shanghai as well as the conference "China Ports Future". The potential of the Port of Gdansk has also been presented to a group of Chinese managers of the Port of Ningbo seeking to invest in this part of Europe. The economic expansion of companies from the Far East on the territory of Poland has also led to a visit of a group of Chinese journalists to the Gdansk port. The mutual business relations have further been strengthened by the launch of a Chinese language internet port website. The PGA SA business offer is becoming increasingly accessible and friendly to Chinese investors.

The delegates from the Port of Shanghai were officially received by Ryszard Strzyzewicz - President of the Board, Slawomir Wrzesniak - Vice-President of the Board, Julian Skelnik - Marketing Director and Ryszard Mazur - Development Director. Discussion held by the PGA SA management and the Chinese delegates follow-up on earlier contacts between PGA SA representatives and the Shanghai port. It has been scheduled that an agreement of cooperation between the two ports will be signed in autumn 2008.

An interest in developing closer business relations with this biggest economic and financial centre in China and the third biggest sea port in the world has been also declared by Jan Kozlowski - Marshal of the Pomeranian Region.
