A visit of delegates from the Republic of Latvia

28.02.2003

The official visit of the President of the Republic of Latvia, Ms. Vaira Vike-Freiberga to Poland provided the grounds for the in-depth examination of the development opportunities available in terms of the economic co-operation between the two countries. Focusing on this issue, Latvian entrepreneurs and politicians showed considerable interest in the expansion capacity at the seaports of Gdansk and Gdynia.

On February 27, this year the Port of Gdansk Authority SA was hosting Latvian delegates headed by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia, Mr. Ainars Slesers. The visitors received a warm-hearted reception from the Vice-President of the Board of the Port of Gdansk Authority SA - Mr. Zbigniew Perlinski.

The Latvian delegates were introduced to the range of services offered by the cargo handling terminals operating at the Port of Gdansk, as well as to the port infrastructure and development plans. The meeting was followed by the invitation to visit the Port Free Zone that raised a considerable interest on the part of the guests.
