"Albatros" has inaugurated the cruise season in Gdansk15.05.2009 On 15 May, the Gdansk port hosted the first cruise liner to arrive this year. As previously - the season was inaugurated by the arrival of "Albatros" operated under the flag of Bahamas. The cruise liner called at Gdansk on its way from Bremerhaven to Klaipeda, with 871 tourists on board, mainly from Germany.
This vessel, over 205 metres long, was built in 1973 and ranks among the largest cruise ships calling at Gdansk. On 7 June, "Rotterdam", nearly 238 metres long, is expected. In total, the quays of Oliwskie, Ziolkowskiego and Westerplatte will host 17 cruise liners, with their sometimes multiple visits already confirmed. Thanks to the 39 calls (cruise ship "Regatta" will visit us as many as eight times), Gdansk is expecting over 16 thousand tourists.
The last year was slightly less successful - with 36 calls of cruise liners with over 13 thousand passengers coupled by the ferry services - bringing 190 thousand visitors to the city on the Motlawa river.
