04.03.2014 The view of drilling rigs in the Gulf of Gdansk and the canal of the Port of Gdansk always draws attention of regular visitors to nearby beaches and quays even though it happens more and more often these days. When entering Gdańska Stocznia Remontowa SA (the services of which are becoming more and more renowned globally) and because of their size, the rigs usually require several simultaneous operations, including the support of several tow boats, halt of traffic of other vessels in the port, disconnection of the electric cable hanging over the canal...
On 26 February 2014 at the roadstead of the Port of Gdansk was reported the arrival of MV Target, a specialist semi-submersible vessel, which brought on its board the GSF MONITOR rig from the waters of West Africa. This time, the rig was towed to the region of the Zamykające Quay of the Northern Port. It will undergo month-long adaptation works of Lotos Serwis and, leaving under a new name of LOTOS PETROBALTIC, the rig will start its operation on the Baltic hydrocarbon field in the region of Gotland.
It is already the fourth rig owned by the Gdansk petroleum concern to significantly increase possibilities of prospecting and extracting petroleum deposits under the licence of Lotos. Janusz Kasprowicz PGA SA PR Officer
