Asia Pacific Maritime 2008

01.04.2008

On 26-28 March this year, Singapore was hosting the trade fair Asia Pacific Maritime 2008. The Port of Gdansk Authority SA was among the participants and presented its offer at an exhibition stand organized by the Polish Embassy in Singapore. Attending the event on behalf of the Port of Gdansk were PGA SA President of the Board - Stanislaw Cora and PGA SA Head of the Marketing Office - Ryszard Mazur. The exhibition also gathered the participation of delegates representing the Port of Gdynia and the Szczecin Shipyard.

The event is organized every two years and in 2008 it comprised 841 exhibitors and over 7,000 visitors. It was the first time that the Polish stand was provided which gave us the opportunity to introduce the Port to a very interesting and specific area. Singapore is the biggest transit port in the world. The 2007 turnover of the four container terminals owned by the PSA Singapore Terminals amounted to 27.1 million TEUs, of which transhipment represented 83%. The trade fair also provided the opportunity to meet the major players and decision-makers in the field of maritime container shipment and to see, on the port's roadstead, brand names of all major shipping companies and numerous vessels, not only container ships.

We naturally realize that to see the results while entering the uncharted territory in terms of our promotional activities will require time and patience. However, given the remarkable professional skills and involvement of the Polish Ambassador in Singapore, Mr. Boguslaw Marcin Majewski and his team, we can expect that the publicity of our Port and the established business contacts will bring substantial profits.
