Autologistics Europe conference

31.03.2005

March 2 and 3 this year saw Montreux, Switzerland hosting the conference of Autologistics Europe. The series of events had been designed as an international platform for senior industry players: car manufacturers, suppliers and logistics service providers.

The conference presented sessions on all areas of the transport logistics of newly built vehicles. Speakers and panelists included representatives of such businesses as BMW, Honda, Ford, Mazda, Porsche, Toyota, Volkswagen, P&O Nedlloyd Logistics, as well as the European Commission. Representing the Port of Gdansk Authority SA was Danuta Bilat - Head of Shipping Development and Tariffs Department.

Newly built vehicles play a significant role in terms of cargo handling at the Port of Gdansk, with the largest share being handled at the Port Free Zone. Prospective developments are set to even further boost present throughput and storage capacity. The Port of Gdansk Authority SA is continuously taking measures aimed at attracting new business partners from the automotive industry.

The conference held in Montreux was part of a series of four events by the common name of Autologistics. Subsequent international conferences still scheduled for the year 2005 are Autologistics Asia, Central Europe and Global respectively. Gdansk is set to be playing host of the prestigious Autologistics Central Europe conference on June 21 and 22, with the Port of Gdansk Authority SA acting as one of the major sponsors of this event.
