200512.09.2005 On 6-8 September, Gdansk was playing host to the 13th edition of the International Maritime Exhibition BALTEXPO 2005. This year's event gathered some 300 exhibitors representing 16 countries: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden, USA and, last but not least, Poland. Major trades and industries featured at the exhibition included: ports and terminals, shipbuilding, ship overhauls and fitting, sea and port rescue services, classification companies, marine environment protection, maritime publishers. Official national exhibition stands were provided by exhibitors from Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and Norway.
The honorary patronage of the exhibition was held by: President of the Republic of Poland Aleksander Kwasniewski, Speaker of the Senate of the Polish Republic Longin Pastusiak, Minister of Economy and Labour Jacek Piechota, Minister of Infrastructure Krzysztof Opawski, Pomeranian Governor Cezary Dabrowski, City Mayor of Gdansk Pawel Adamowicz and President of the Industry Development Agency SA Arkadiusz Krezel. The exhibition was accompanied by a two-day conference "Polish Maritime Economy - a new opening".
For a consecutive time, the Port of Gdansk Authority SA co-hosted the exhibition booth with the City of Gdansk. Playing host on behalf of the Port of Gdansk Authority SA was the Board of Directors in its full three-strong composition: Andrzej Kasprzak - President of the Board and Vice-Presidents - Andrzej Bojanowski and Julian Skelnik.
The participation of the Port of Gdansk Authority SA in the exhibition BALTEXPO 2005 provided, first and foremost, the opportunity to demonstrate services offered by the Port of Gdansk and also to hold talks with the Port's business partners. It is worth to take notice of the talks held with the Kaliningrad District delegation headed by the Governor's Adviser for Investment Policy Arkadyi Safronov.
