Baltports-IT in Gdansk

03.02.2003

On February 6-7, 2003 Gdansk will be playing host to a conference bringing together participants involved in the Baltports-IT project financed by the European Commission. On February 10-11, the event will be followed by works aimed at the accurate defining of the project and the software employed to aid the simulation of the Gdansk Container Terminal. The conference is organized by the Port of Gdansk Authority SA in close co-operation with the Technical University of Warsaw.

Baltports-IT has been developed to provide suitable grounds for exchange of experience, promotion and support of advanced IT technologies in the field of maritime economy across the EU applicant countries. Members of the project are representatives of universities, ports, organizations and companies coming from UK, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Greece. Poland is represented by the Technical University of Warsaw and the Port of Gdansk Authority SA.

Among others, the agenda of the conference provides for a presentation of the Port of Gdansk, an internet-based DYSPORT system of notification of ships' calls, as well as a website of www.portgdansk.pl.
