Belarusian business on a visit in Gdansk21.10.2009 On 19 October 2009, the Oliwa Manor played host to the 3rd Regional Belarusian-Pomeranian Economic Forum. Among the over 100 participants, there were representatives of local authorities, organizations and companies from Poland and Belarus. Attending the Forum were also Deputy Marshal of the Pomeranian Region Wieslaw Byczkowski, Deputy Governor of the Pomeranian Region Michal Owczarczak, General Consul of the Republic of Belarus in Gdansk Ruslan Jesin, Deputy Governor of the Mohylev District Victor Nekrashevich and President of the Regional Pomeranian Chamber of Commerce Janusz Baran. The delegation on behalf of the Port of Gdansk Authority SA was headed by President of the Board Ryszard Strzyzewicz. The Forum's agenda included a number of speeches pertaining to the development of economic cooperation between Belarus and Poland. The PGA SA presentation outlined the investment opportunity of the Port of Gdansk that opens up the perspective to establish on the port premises the Belarusian Cargo and Logistics Centre. The Gdansk Economic Development Agency introduced the construction project of a state-of-the-art logistics centre in the location adjacent to the DCT Gdansk container terminal. Following the presentation of the investment opportunities, a group of delegates representing Belarusian companies and the Belarusian Consulate visited the Port of Gdansk. The guests saw, among other sites, the port's panoramic view afforded from the observation gondola on top of the tower of the Northern Port Harbour Master's Office and visited the Westerplatte Ferry Terminal. The Forum turned out to provide an excellent platform for the exchange of information and establishing business contacts. The meeting in Gdansk confirmed both sides' will of cooperation. The mutual opening-up of the Belarusian and Pomeranian businesses paved up the way to possible future joint economic projects. |
