British troops at the Port of Gdansk

06.11.2015

Between 26-30 October 2015, military equipment was unloaded and British soldiers from the 12th Royal Armoured-Mechanised Brigade disembarked at the Duty Free Zone of the Port of Gdansk Authority. The British unit's equipment included some Challenger 2 tanks as well as Warrior infantry cars. The equipment was unloaded after some major manoeuvres by the Polish Army codenamed Dragon 15, which took place at the Mazury training ground. The heavy equipment was transported to the Port of Gdansk by rail and by road convoys. The capability to unload the equipment from the rail transport and load onto the Britannia Seaways ro-ro ship confirmed the universality of the infrastructure and capacity of the Port of Gdansk for the implementation of allied commitments under the support system of the host country (HNS - Host Nation Support).
