Cargo handling volumes on the increase at the Gdansk Container Terminal

07.04.2004

The first quarter of this year shows a growth in a number of containers handled at the Gdansk Container Terminal by 82% as compared with the corresponding period of the previous year. In particular, a substantial growth was recorded for the months of February and March. In total, over the first three months, the Gdansk Container Terminal handled a volume of 7,190 TEU (20-feet containers), i.e. 3,244 TEU more than in the respective period of last year.

Such a successful outcome is coupled by undertakings that enhance attractiveness of the terminal. The work that has been carried out so far enable a simultaneous handling of two container ships, whilst this year's plans envisage lengthening the quay. The beginning of the second quarter of the year additionally saw the opening of a new regular container service.
