10.09.2007

On 6-7 September 2007, Sopot was hosting the General Assembly of the Baltic Ports Organization BPO. The Assembly, which was held for the first time in Poland, provided the opportunity for meetings and discussions concerning transport policies and current market trends. The event was accompanied by the conference "The economy of Poland and other Central and Eastern European states - present and future - production, services, growth in trade and the impact on transport and logistics".

BPO was set up in 1991 and currently comprises nearly 50 major seaports from 9 countries situated on the Baltic Sea. Main objectives of BPO include: promoting ideas and standpoints of the Baltic ports in conjunction with adequate international organizations and examining problems related to the port industry in view of international threats. PGA SA has been part of the organization since 1993. On the second day of the General Assembly proceedings, Julian Skelnik - Vice President of the Board of PGA SA was named new BPO Chairman.
