Continued growth in the number of car carriers at the Port of Gdansk17.01.2008 The renown shipping company United European Car Carriers has chosen the Port of Gdansk as a transshipment location for passenger cars such as Honda and Mitsubishi destined for the Russian market. Car carriers operated by UECC will be calling DCT on a twice-weekly basis as part of the regular shipping service en route DCT Gdansk - Kotka with the task of loading cars brought from the Far East on board vessels owned by WWL and EMC. The recent calls implemented under this service include mv "Isolde" on 12 January this year, which discharged 2,568 vehicles, and mv "Baltic Ace" on 14 January this year - loading of 1,494 cars. Another car carrier mv "Autosan" is expected already on 17 January and will take 1,032 vehicles. To date, the total number of vehicles handled - both loaded and discharged - has amounted to 10,616 cars.
