The Port of Gdansk in Odessa18.06.2002 On June 12-15 this year The Port of Gdansk Authority SA participated in the 1st International Exhibition "InterTransPort' 2002" that was held on the premises of the Odessa Seaport Terminal. The exhibition was organized under the auspices of the Ukrainian Minister of Transport, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Head of the Ukraine Maritime and Inland Transport Department, as well as European Sea Ports Organization. The event gathered 80 exhibitors inclusive of representatives of the such ports as Batumi, Izmail, Mariupol, Odessa, Poti, Reni, Ilychevsk and Sevastopol. Taking part in the exhibition there were also agents and companies representing the transportation sector from Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia, Russia, Georgia, Germany, Moldavia and Lithuania. It was not the first time that the Port of Gdansk had participated in Odessa exhibitions, though, previously it has been the TRANSUKRAINE International Fair organized on annual basis in October. The Port of Gdansk Authority SA held its own 25 m2 large exhibition stand and was represented by: Zdzislaw Stankowski - Head of the Port of Gdansk Authority SA Representative's Office in Kaliningrad, Jerzy Kotkowski - Senior Specialist of the Port Hinterland Investment Projects and Magdalena Muntowska - Independent Advertising Officer.
The Port of Gdansk was Poland's sole seaport represented at the event. The stand held by the Port of Gdansk Authority SA attracted a large deal of attention of other exhibitors, as well as the visitors, in particular, press representatives specialist in the field, as well as the journalists from local magazines. Among the guests visiting our exhibition stand there were representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Kiev, the Commercial Seaport of Odessa and the Commercial Seaport of Ilychevsk. During the event a large number of talks was held that focused, inter alia, on the Gdansk-Odessa transit cargo flows servicing.
The exhibition was accompanied by an international conference on the transportation business in the Black Sea region. During the conference a speech was delivered by the representative of the Port of Gdansk Authority SA - Jerzy Kotkowski. The "InterTransPort' 2002" Exhibition provided a special opportunity to sustain the so far existing business liaison with the Ukrainian partners and also to get in touch with new companies operating in the transportation and forwarding market that in the up-and-coming years may wish to develop the co-operation with the Port of Gdansk.
