Korean media representatives on a visit to the Port of Gdansk09.12.2015 On 8 December 2015, the Port of Gdansk welcomed journalists from the Korean newspapers 'JoongAng Ilbo' - one of the three most widely read Korean newspapers published, among others, in English, in cooperation with the International New York Times - and the weekly ChosunBiz, specialising in economic issues. The journalists came to Poland on a study visit organised by the Polish Agency for Information and Foreign Investment at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As part of their almost week-long stay in the country, the representatives of the Korean media visited several enterprises in Pomerania. In addition to the Port of Gdansk, they held meetings with representatives of the Deepwater Container Terminal and the Ship Repair Yard. The main focus of the journalists was the remarkable development of the Port of Gdansk, its outlook for the years to come as well as investment plans for the expansion of the port infrastructure. South Korea has, for several years, been a permanent port of call for ships of the 2M alliance, which connects Gdansk with distant Korea as part of its regular ocean service from Asia. Undoubtedly this aspect, as well as the increasing importance of Poland in terms of trade with Korea, meant that the journalists participating in this visit went to see, among others, Gdansk, which is becoming more well-known among the inhabitants of Asia because of its growing role on the logistics map of the Eurasian continent. The guests were welcomed by CEO Dorota Raben who, along with the Director of International Cooperation - Julian Skelnik - presented the current range of services offered by the port, its importance on the logistics map of Europe and the prospective role of Gdansk in maritime trade with Asia. The Korean visit was not the first sign of the Asian media's active interest in this Polish port. As recently as a few weeks ago, our website also published a short news story of a similar visit made by some Chinese media reps. At that time, the Jiefang Daily, China Business News and the People's Daily decided to present the port's range of services to the Chinese public.
