The 40th Anniversary of the Northern Port Lech Walesa has paid a visit to the Port of Gdansk16.10.2014 At the invitation of the PGA SA Management Board, on 15 October 2014, Lech Walesa paid a visit to the Port of Gdansk. The occasion was to mark the 40th anniversary of the Northern Port's operation and the main focus of the meeting included exchanging views and ideas concerning the current situation of the port and its prospects for development. During his meeting with the Management Board of the Port of Gdansk, Lech Walesa expressed his great interest in the operating conditions of the port company within the legal framework of the European Union. The discussion focused mainly on the port's newly adopted market strategy in the context of performing the assignments presented to the port by the European Union and those required by the national economy. It was deemed urgent and necessary to take further steps in order to boost the technological and economic advancement so as to ensure Poland's fair share of the European and global commercial exchange. The Polish seaports, which operate at the junction of the global business, have managed quite well in the new reality. Lech Walesa expressed his conviction that their worldwide promotion will successfully encourage more investments - especially considering the Port of Gdansk's business offer including plots of land situated directly on the deep water regions. Lech Walesa presented Dorota Raben, President of the Board of the PGA SA, with a congratulatory letter to honour all the Gdansk stevedores and builders of the Northern Port. The visit was concluded with a press conference, where the first democratically elected President of the Republic of Poland - with the eloquence and humour that is so typical of him - answered questions regarding both the past and the present day.
