New ro-ro service29.09.2004 On 27th September this year there was a call marking a launch of a new service on the route Gdansk - Copenhagen - Goeteborg. "Tor Belgia" of the Danish shipowner DFDS Tor Line will be berthed at the Obroncow Westerplatte Quay twice a week. Regular calls at Gdansk are scheduled on Mondays (departures on Tuesdays) and Fridays (departures on the same day).
"Tor Belgia" is a big ro-ro vessel with the cargo handling line amounting to nearly 2,700 meters. It allows for transportation of not only trucks, trailers, cars and other vehicles but also heavy and bulk cargo handled by the shipowner's own equipment. The length of the vessel is 193.25 meters and its width 25 meters. It attains the speed of 19.5 knots.
"Tor Belgia" connecting Gdansk with Copenhagen and Goeteborg will originate the service "PolBridge", which links into another DFDS Tor Link's service comprising of 16 weekly departures from Goeteborg to Immingham and Harwich in Great Britain. The transit time between Gdansk and any of the aforementioned ports is 2.5 days. Moreover, it will be possible to link into DFDS Tor Link's service operating in Gent (Belgium) and Rotterdam (Holland). The shipowner expects that such a broad offer will be received with great interest especially in the context of the new toll system (MAUT) introduced in Germany on 1st January.
