Norwegian platform at the Port of Gdansk13.11.2006 The stormy weather persisting for the last few days has effectively prevented the towing of a Norwegian drilling platform to the Gdansk Ship Repair Yard "Remontowa". The "Bredford Dolphin" platform had been brought from the North Sea to the Gdansk Port roadstead already on Tuesday. However, it was not until Friday, 10 November this year, that, by means of five tugboats operated by the "WUZ" company, the platform was berthed in a "Remontowa" basin. The persisting strong winds notwithstanding, the towing operation was begun in the early morning and by midday the entire convoy reached the port entrance lights. The overall operation including navigating the port canals and berthing at the "Remontowa" basin was completed by approx. 9 pm. The 106-metre high and 67-metre wide "Bredford Dolphin" platform is already the fourth platform - following "Glomar Arctic IV", "Arctic II" and "Jutlander" - to be repaired by the Gdansk Ship Repair Yard "Remontowa". |
