Polish Days of the Sea return to Slovakia after 5 years06.06.2016 On 2 June, Polish Days of the Sea were held under the patronage of the Polish Embassy in Bratislava, and the Port of Gdansk was one of the participants. Invited by the Polish Chamber of Maritime Commerce - the event's organizer - representatives of all three Polish ports turned up and had a chance to present their ports' potential to a broad group of representatives of the Slovak industry. Within the last 5 years, Polish Days of the Sea were organised in the Czech Republic. This year, they returned to Slovakia. The companies invited included steel mills, car factories, producers of electronic devices, logistics companies, chambers of industry and commerce bringing together Slovak entrepreneurs, as well as representatives of the local media dedicated to the issues of transport and logistics. The Port of Gdansk's participation in this year's Days of the Sea provided an opportunity to present not only the activity of the port itself, but also of individual companies located within the port premises, which cooperate with the Slovak side on a permanent basis in the area of distribution of goods or plan to expand such activity to the Slovak market.
In accordance with the Port of Gdansk's strategy, in spite of a relatively small total area, Slovakia is set to remain among the countries of interest to the port, in terms of the possibility to expand Gdansk's transit activity. Slovakia is a thriving market when it comes to production. Meanwhile, on account of its modern terminals, as well as its attractive location and a wide network of shipping links, the Port of Gdansk constitutes an attractive logistics hub offering transport solutions at a level comparable to the Western ports. Similar shipping times and lower transport costs via Gdansk may pose an attractive logistics alternative to the solutions used by the Slovak entrepreneurs to date. During Polish Days of the Sea, the attractiveness of transport via the Port of Gdansk was emphasised by Lukasz Greinke - President of the Board of the Port of Gdansk Authority.
