Polish Logistics Congress LOGISTICS 2014

19.05.2014

On 14-16 May, Poznan played host to the 12th edition of the Polish Logistics Congress LOGISTICS 2014, with the leading theme "Communication in supply chains", held on the premises of Poznan International Fair. It was the first time that the Port of Gdansk Authority SA had participated in this event.

Polish Logistics Congress is the second largest logistics event in Europe. It gathered a large number of participants representing logistics and transport industry, academic and research centres, as well as central authorities. The Congress was inaugurated with a keynote address by the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Economy, Dariusz Bogdan.

Themed sessions during the Congress included topics such as "Logistician - a service provider or a partner", "IT solutions for supply chains", "Communication tools for transport", "The Baltic-Adriatic Transport Network as a key link in providing logistics services for the European markets". Several dozens of speakers included: Jos Maurinus - President of the European Logistics Association, Steve Bratt - one of the founders of World Wide Web and Halina Brdulak - Professor at Warsaw School of Economics.

The PGA SA presentation delivered by the Marketing Director Jacek Kulesza during the panel "Safety and security aspects in supply chains" focused on the strategic safety and security issues at the Port of Gdansk. At the same session, benefits of holding an AEO (Authorised Economic Operator) certificate for business operators were introduced by representatives of the Customs Chamber in Poznan and by the Director of Customs Policy Department at the Ministry of Finance, Tomasz Michalak.

In addition to its active participation in the panel discussion, PGA SA ranked among almost 60 participants of the exhibition which was held on the premises of Poznan International Fair. The Port of Gdansk exhibition stand received a favourable welcome and raised significant interest on the part of logistics experts. The visitors inquired about goods storage facilities on the port premises and in its immediate vicinity, and about logistical advantages that give the Port of Gdansk an upper hand in comparison with other seaports in the region. The Congress provided an excellent opportunity to present the Port of Gdansk and its business offer as a high-quality alternative in terms of logistic chains.
