Record-breaking cruise season at the Port of Gdansk06.10.2009 This year's cruise season at the Port of Gdansk has come to an end. Over the four summer months we have seen passenger ships dock forty times at the port, bringing to Gdansk an all-time high number of nearly 17 thousand passengers.
As was the case in the previous years, the cruise liners docked at the Oliwskie Quay, Captain Ziolkowski Quay and at the Westerplatte Ferry Terminal. They could also be admired twice at DCT where the all-time biggest passenger ships in the history of Gdansk were docked - "Rotterdam" and "Arcadia".
The 2009 season marked a groundbreaking period in terms of maritime tourist traffic at the Gdansk port. Large numbers of passengers coming to Gdansk onboard cruise liners confirm the fact that the South Baltic area is becoming increasingly popular among international visitors.
With a view to further promotion of sea tourism to Gdansk, the Port of Gdansk Authority SA has resolved to introduce new improvements in terms of pricing as of 1 October 2009. Cruise liners arriving in Gdansk over consecutive cruise seasons will be able to take full advantage of our "Frequently Is Cheaper" policy. Further details are available in the PGA SA fee tariff.
It is also the 2009 season that for the first time saw the launch of a live coverage of successive arrivals of passenger ships via the Gdansk port internet service. The website presents a wide range of photographs and interesting information concerning itineraries and characteristic features of each cruise liner visiting Gdansk.
