September successful ratings adding up to a record-breaking annual results07.10.2004 September had already been a ninth month round to contribute to a record-breaking annual results in the recent years when it comes to cargo handling volumes at the Port of Gdansk. It saw Gdansk port workers having handled nearly 2 million tonnes of various goods (1,991,571 tonnes), i.e. over 316 thou. tonnes more as compared with September 2003. The largest cargo handling volumes had been reported for liquid fuels - 1,063,804 tonnes (313,384 tonnes more vs. September last year). Similarly, the coal handling accounted for a nearly 50 thou. growth vs. September last year - 524,515 tonnes. We are also pleased with the favourable turnover at the general cargo handling quays. September brought about 161,131 tonnes of general cargo handled. Other cargo groups shape as follows - other bulk: 221,167 tonnes, grain: 14,470 tonnes, ore: 5,603 tonnes and timber: 881 tonnes. The growth as compared with the last year's September ratings further added to a successful attempt of recording a top handling result in the recent years. Since the beginning of this year. Gdansk port workers had handled a total volume of 17,617,641 tonnes of various goods, which, compared with the corresponding 9 months of 2003 shows a rise by 1,676,479 tonnes. Such result had been achieved mainly due to an increased volume in liquid fuels as compared with the last year - this year had already recorded 9,264,209 tonnes, general cargo - 2,040,307 tonnes, but also coal that accounts for a smaller volume, although had already reached an amount of 4,293,642 tonnes. Further records of such rates in cargo handling will enable the achievement of year-end results at a better level than in 2003. The figures on cargo handling volumes set out above, after the information from all quays have been compiled and completed, along with the archive data will be available on graphs in the "Cargo statistics" section. |
