The 10th anniversary of the Gdansk Container Terminal Co.

11.09.2008

It is ten years since the Gdansk Container Terminal Co. (GTK) became operational. It was precisely on 9 September 1998 that the Articles of Association of a joint stock company called the Gdansk Container Terminal Co. ware signed. GTK commenced its operations in November 1998 at the Szczecinskie Quay.

The terminal is designed to handle vessels with a load capacity of up to 20,000 DWT. It is fitted with a ship-to-shore gantry crane, two gantry cranes, two shore cranes, a mobile harbour crane with a lifting capacity of 100 tonnes, a straddle carrier and two reach-stackers. Major advantages of GTK include services that ensure clients' quick and efficient contacts with administration offices and institutions, integrated terminal and depot-holder services, a state-of-the-art veterinary inspection post, free zone facilities on the premises of the Gdansk Port.

Thanks to the consistently implemented policy that favours the clients' interests and convenience, as well as the efforts to maintain high quality services, GTK has established its reputation of a friendly port, which is reflected in its continuously rising turnovers. A steady increase in the GTK turnover as well as the particular care for developing good relations with their business partners have been duly recognized and appreciated by ocean-going container carriers.

Currently, the terminal is providing container services to over thirty-nine container carriers, including such tycoons as Evergreen, Hanjin, APL, COSCO, IRISL, CMA-CGM, NYK, K-Line, OOCL, CSCL, MOL, Hyundai, ZIM, Hapag Lloyd, CSAV, Hamburg Sud, UASC, MISC, Maersk, Delta and others.

In addition to the routine operations typical of a container terminal, GTK also offers their clients other services such as pre-contract and transportation consultancy as well as harbour forwarding. The terminal makes every effort to ensure that their customers receive an increasingly improved and comprehensive offer for container services.
