The cruise season has begun09.05.2007 On 9 May, the cruise season 2007 was inaugurated with the arrival of the ship "National Geographic Endeavour". 47 calls of passenger vessels are expected this year, which is over 60% more than in the previous season. The vessel "National Geographic Endeavour" sailing under the flag of the Bahama Islands and carrying 107 passengers on its board was moored at the Oliwskie Quay. This season, it will call at the Port of Gdansk again in two weeks' time (on 25 May). The number of vessels visiting the Port of Gdansk is rapidly increasing year by year. For comparison purposes, only 4 years ago - in 2003 - there were 7 ships visiting the Port, bringing 3,367 passengers onboard, whereas in the last season, the Port of Gdansk provided services to 29 cruise vessels carrying 9,703 passengers onboard. Similarly to the previous years, passenger ships will be accommodated at the two quays - Obroncow Westerplatte and Oliwskie where, in mid-July, the biggest vessel handled so far at the Port of Gdansk will be moored - namely "Thomson Spirit" with 214.6 metres in length and a gross registered tonnage of 33,930 GT, which can carry up to 1,374 passengers onboard and which is equipped with 2 swimming-pools, 5 bars, 3 restaurants, a night club, a spa, a cinema, a reading room and a casino. This year's cruise season will last until 19 September.
