The Port of Gdansk played host to an away-from-home session of the Gdansk City Council Economic and Maritime Policy Commission.

18.09.2013

On 16 September 2013, the vantage deck on top of the Harbour Master's Office tower in the Northern Port yet again played host to members of the Gdansk City Council Economic and Maritime Policy Commission. President of the Board of PGA SA, Dorota Raben, who attended the session at the invitation of the Council Chair Piotr Dzik, acquainted the councillers with the Port of Gdansk's economic results, throughput statistics and its development perspectives, including particularly port investment opportunities. - The seaport on Gdansk - as she concluded - must take full advantage of its geographical rent, as well as of the emerging opportunity of financing investment projects in the new EU financial perspective for the years 2014-2020.

A lively discussion inspired by this presentation brought about a strong conclusion firmly supported by all the Commission members that the seaport in Gdansk, with its annual throughput worth more than 150 billion zlotys, ranks as the indisputable leader in terms of cargo shipping services in Poland and in Central-Eastern Europe. It is our common, national interest to spare no effort to ensure that over the next decades the Port of Gdansk maintains its leading position and takes full advantage of the Baltic hub's positive forecasts regarding not only liquid fuels and containerized goods, but also dry bulk cargo.
