The Port of Gdansk is socially responsible

23.02.2016

On 11 February 2016, PGA SA approved the "Policy of Good Business Practices of CSR" in effect at the Port of Gdansk, which was drawn up in the form of a code constituting the essence of the principles followed by the Port of Gdansk Authority SA in its activity.

Globally, a great deal of importance is placed on the issue of sustainable development, which, to put it simply, is a doctrine emphasising the necessity of economic development which does not stand in contradiction to caring for the environment, quality of life, social working conditions or any other good.

For many years, the Port of Gdansk has strived to demonstrate that the interest of the port and the environment in which it operates, as well as respect for the community within which and for which it develops the port organism, are extremely important.

In practice, the approved policy is a formal document describing the principles that the Port of Gdansk has followed for years, which is expressed in its everyday activity. The document focuses on issues such as environmental protection, the port's activity for the benefit of the local community, and business ethics, but also issues related to caring about the company's human capital, the port's reputation, and impeccable relations with stakeholders, as according to the port this is the only guarantee of effective and consistent economic development.

All these elements are of no small importance to the activity of the Port of Gdansk, as the principle of sustainable development is not perceived as an obligation here, but as a sign of looking to the future with awareness and responsibility.
The approved document, which is available in its entirety on our website at www.portgdansk.pl/port-authority/csr, presents an overall picture of the Company's activity as a socially responsible entity to date.

The recent years of the port's activity, the successive handling records, the dynamically expanding client portfolio, new investments, the development of its significance in the domestic and international arenas are the best indication of the fact that a consistent, sustainable, far-sighted and responsible approach, in an era of the most demanding market, brings the desired benefits. It helps build positive relations, particularly if they are based on essential and timeless principles, such as integrity, respect and ethics, which the Port of Gdansk undertakes to preserve and cultivate in all its further activities aimed at the development of the port, among others, through the approved "Policy of Good Business Practices of CSR".
