04.07.2005

On June 30, 2005 the Port of Gdansk was hosting delegates from the General Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Kaliningrad. The delegation was composed of: Consul Andrzej Perlik - Head of the Economy and Trade Department and Consul Andrzej Dobrowolski. During their visit to the Port the guests met with the President of the Board of the Port of Gdansk Authority SA, Andrzej Kasprzak. At the meeting, issues were raised concerning the implementation of agreements made by the Commission for Transport and Shipping, of the Polish- Russian Council for Co-operation between Regions of the Republic of Poland and the Kaliningrad District of the Russian Federation, on the launch of ferry services between Gdansk and Kaliningrad. Options were discussed for providing favourable conditions aiming to eliminate the existing administrative obstacles, such as visas, and to boost commercial exchange and unconstrained passenger traffic.
The visit of the Consulate delegation also gave the opportunity to present to the visitors the potential of the port and its development plans.
