Veterinary Border Inspection Post at the Northern Port in Gdansk29.04.2009 On 29 April this year, representatives of the PGA SA Board of Directors - Ryszard Strzyzewicz and Andrzej Kapuscinski on the one hand, and the Governor of the Pomeranian Region - Roman Zaborowski on the other, signed an agreement that culminated the many years' efforts of the PGA SA aimed at acquiring funds for the construction of the Veterinary Border Inspection Post (GPKW) at the Northern Port.
The Governor of the Pomeranian Region holds the powers to award funds from the state budget performance reserve designated for investments into border crossing facilities. The recent amendments to the legal regulations enabled the Governor to transfer onto the PGA SA responsibilities related to the setting-up of a new post. The funds allocated to this investment will amount to PLN 11 million.
Since the currently operational Veterinary Border Inspection Post is situated at the Wislane Quay, the new post at the Northern Port will be the first one located on the right-bank of the Gdansk port canal and it will boost the competitive edge offered by the Port of Gdansk. The construction is due to completion in December this year.
