Visit of the Taiwanese Ministry of Finance at the Port of Gdansk

24.09.2015

On 23 September the Port of Gdansk was visited by a delegation of representatives of the Taiwanese Ministry of Finance and the maritime industry who came to Pomerania for a three-day fact-finding mission about the specifics of the Polish customs service with regard to its structure, main objectives and strategy for the coming years. The Polish side was represented by the Ministry of Finance and the Customs Service.

The representatives of the Customs Chamber in Gdynia had the opportunity to acquaint the visitors with the new customs and border regulations, which came into force in Polish ports at the beginning of this year, that is the implementation of the so-called IV Act of deregulation introducing a number of simplifications for businesses importing goods via Polish ports. The meeting also served to inform the Taiwanese visitors of the characteristics of foreign trade, particularly in terms of export and import procedures applicable at Polish ports, including the Port of Gdansk.

The Port of Gdansk, its potential and current activities were announced by the Vice-President of the Financial Department of the PGA SA - Mr. Marek Pietruszewski, who presented the guests with the future prospects for the further development of the port, discussing the most important investments now being undertaken in areas administered by the Port of Gdansk Authority SA and investment projects planned for the port in the coming years. The Taiwanese party in turn presented the activities and plans for the largest port in Taiwan - Kaohsiung.

The meeting at the Port of Gdansk was completed by a visit to the DCT container terminal, where guests were introduced to the specifics of the terminal's operation procedure and the characteristics of the trade in goods conducted there.
