Tourist summer
season at the Oliwskie Quay15.05.2003 The weather is getting better by day - this surely means the immediate approach of the summer season, and, at the same time, the high season for the sea tourist season that, similarly to the previous years, includes the warmest months of the year - June, July and August. This is also the case this year, as a call of the liner "Ocean Monarch" on May 31 will mark the opening of the high calling season for passenger ships. This vessel is to call at the Port of Gdansk for a second time on June 1, and, on the same day, a call of another, bigger, 186-meter long "Silver Whisper" is scheduled. The "Triton" is expected to call twice in June - on 4 and 25 at the Oliwskie Quay that is a usual mooring berth for passenger ships at the Port of Gdansk. This vessel is scheduled to call repeatedly on July 16 and on August 6 and 28. Also in July, another passenger ship - the 156-meter long "Silver Cloud" is expected, whereas the month of August will see a call of this year's largest passenger liner - the 204-meter long "Prinsendam". The high season concludes with a call of the small-sized 90-meter long "Endeavour" on August 31. The staying time of passenger liners is rather short - cruisers usually arrive in the morning or early afternoon and depart towards the evening hours. Awaiting the tourists there are buses to take them on sightseeing tours round the Tricity and the surrounding area. |
